FOKKER D.VII



The German Fokker D.VII, which first flew in January of 1918, was designed by Reinhold Platz and about 1,000 of them were built for Germany during World War I, with the first German air force squadrons receiving them in April of 1918. After the war, production continued in Holland and the Dutch Air Force used them in the Netherlands East Indies, during the 1920's. Its maximum speed was 124 mph. (200 km/h) at 3,280 feet (1,000 m).
 


FOKKER E.III



The Fokker E.III monoplane was used by Germany and Austro-Hungary, during World War I, and it had a top speed of 83 mph (133 km/h) at 6,500 feet (1,981 m).


HANNOVER CL.IIIa



A Hannover CL.IIIa that was shot down on October 4, 1918, during World War I. These airplanes were used by the German air force as escourt fighters and for ground attack. 537 Hannover CL.IIIa biplanes were built with a 180 h.p. Argus As.III engine and 80 Hannover CL.III biplanes were built with a 160 h.p. Merecedes D.III engine. Its maximum speed was 102.5 mph (165 km/h) at 1,970 feet (600 m).

ROYAL AIRCRAFT FACTORY B.E. 2



The Royal Aircraft Factory Bleriot Experimental 2 or B.E. 2 was in British air service from 1912 to 1918 and over 3,200 of them were built, in several variants. Primarily used as a reconnaissance aircraft, it was also used as a fighter and as a trainer, and, during 1916, B.E. 2's were credited with shooting down five zeppelins over the United Kingdom. This photo shows a Royal Flying Corps B.E. 2 in German South West Africa (now Zambia), around 1915. The first RFC aircraft arrived in G.S.W.A. in April 1915 and in two months it was captured, from Germany, by allied forces.
