DOUGLAS DC-3



The Douglas DC-3 first flew on December 17, 1935 and could carry 24 passengers. Over 10,000 DC-3s were used as military transports during World War II, under the designation C-47 Skytrain, and it is still in service today.

The American Airlines District of Columbia Flagship Skysleeper DC-3 on display in Washington, D.C., during a May 15-21 National Air Mail Week celebration. The DC-3 entered service with American Airlines on June 25, 1936.

A DC-3, in Livery Airways service, on July 4, 1947, at 7:00 a.m. Livery Airways later became part of Alaska Airlines.

A United Air Lines Mainliner DC-3A, with registration number NC18112, undergoing maintenance, in a hangar. It was first named the Oregon, before being renamed the Dallas. It was sold by United, on August 10, 1953, and has been operated by numerous airlines, since then.
